perennials don't come back from seed. they come back from the same root system they had before, which means the plant you thought died in november was alive underground the whole winter, just waiting for a reason. we've been sitting with that one, partly because we went quiet after last november's show and a few of you assumed MOSAIC was done, and partly because the room we're gathering in on june 11 has its own version of the story.

the allan gardens palm house went up in 1910. it spent the last three years closed for restoration, looking for all the world like a beautiful dead thing behind the hoarding, and it reopened this past spring on the same bones it was built on. we're among the first gatherings to happen inside it since. a glass house full of living things that most of the city had written off, which honestly is about the most on-theme venue we could have asked for.

and then there's who we've asked to be in it with us. we didn't sit down to build a panel about roots, but turns out that's what we did. a naturalist whose whole practice is about what holds us to a place, a psychologist studying how MDMA helps couples repair what trauma broke between them, a digital artist who grows entire landscapes out of pixels, and a trio who improvise until the room finds its pulse. four people who'd never share a stage anywhere else, all circling the same question from different sides. here's who they are.

Dr. Anne Wagner clinical psychologist, writer, and treatment-development researcher in Toronto. founder of Remedy, a mental health innovation community, and its research home, Remedy Institute. she's lead investigator on two clinical trials using MDMA alongside therapy for post-traumatic stress, one of them a couples therapy, and her work lives at the seam between psychotherapy and non-ordinary states.

Alex McLeod digital artist who's spent nearly two decades making 3D worlds, an early adopter of the medium back when it was still treated as a toy. his work has run from visuals for Céline Dion and Gord Downie to exhibitions at MASS MoCA and pieces held by the Whitney. in 2025 his show To Go Boldly won exhibition of the year.

Amani Hassani naturalist, environmental educator, and founder of Roots and Bonds, a social enterprise built on the belief that connection to land grows belonging. more than a decade in ecology and nature education, mostly spent helping people slow down, pay attention, and remember they're part of a living world.

Aikebom a Toronto trio building groove-driven, improvisation-heavy live music out of brazilian rhythm, latin jazz, 70s boogie, rare groove, hip hop, soul, and deep house. Dave Gouveia, Santosh Naidu, and Martino Lozej have between them played with the ROOTS, k-os, Ivana Santilli, and the Arkells. built for dancers and late-night listeners both.
