✨ Altered States Weekly // Psychedelic research, rituals, and real-world impact
Graphic design in 2025 is marked by “psychedelic nature”—organic, swirling forms, neon colors, and cosmic landscapes inspired by both the natural world and altered states. Trends include fluid, exaggerated forms and mind-bending patterns, merging plant imagery with surreal, trippy aesthetics that appeal to contemporary audiences and digital platforms.
The Royal Ontario Museum is planning an immersive, transdisciplinary exhibition to explore the cross-cultural and scientific importance of altered states of consciousness, featuring contemporary artworks, botanical specimens, interactive displays, and objects from diverse traditions. The show will explicitly tackle decades of cultural taboo and brings forward how psychedelics have influenced and intersected with art, ritual, and scientific discovery.
